Born and raised in the Twin island republic of Trinidad & Tobago, Aminah Ali formally known as AM . ALI by her pen ink name in the writing world always had a budding love for writing at a tender age. As the means to study literature were out of her means however with the help of the internet with self-teaching herself poetry and crafting short stories on Wattpad. Ali, has made an online presence for herself particularly with her poetry via her Instagram handle ‘@aminahwrites‘. Later on, she was able to produce her debut collection of poems entitled ‘Lilac Honey’ in the year of 2022 which hit Amazon’s #1 release in Caribbean and Latin America poetry. In the year of 2023 she was highlighted as Bocas Lit Fest’s ‘New Voices’ which acknowledges a special showcase of debut and self-published books by T&T authors, in her home country exploring a diversity of voices, subjects, and styles. Along with receiving the First Authors Award presented by Nalis the National Library in her mother land that year. She has also contributed to both international and local anthologies such as By Me WOMb , By Me Poetica & Tales of Root, Silk & Bone. Whilst this writer has more ink to spill when she is not penning or blotting ink you can find her immersed in a world of a good plot-twisting book, or vibing out to music that resonates with her soul or even enjoying a world of dark comedy K-dramas. As of recent Ali has ventured in creating her own online publishing house called ‘House Of Lilac Publishing’ providing a medium of publishing services with a small team with an aim to help local aspiring authors make their book dreams a reality.
