Our Story

It was an unusual morning in September 2020. The Royards Publishing team was regrouping after the national lockdown due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Our sector was upended with the closure of schools and we had no clear idea of what was coming next. Even as governments, educators and parents globally made every effort to change to virtual learning, the lockdown exposed many inequities in education systems and the challenges posed by online learning.  

It was then that our idea of creating a digital space for learning materials morphed into ‘mission critical.’ But we went a step further. We decided to create a digital space - a great, big digital tent - where any publisher, author, educator and institution could make their literary products and resources available. Like many ideas that sound good, we knew we needed to talk with experts in the technology sector. We explored solutions with local and foreign companies and decided on Blue Guruz Ltd., a local fintech firm, with global linkages. Digital Canopi is the result of our collaboration with Blue Guruz. It reflects our commitment to build solutions engineered by our own Caribbean imagination. Digital Canopi is a secure, encrypted, state-of-the-art online platform designed for publishers and authors to thrive in the new digital world. We believe that Publishing is a great industry and Digital Canopi is proud to be a place where we can publish something for everyone.
